hey @rainbow, be careful what you wish for eh mate?!
at work (i'm a nurse currently) been given many notifications that i may be sacked/made redundant by June this year. I jokingly said to @rainbow that I'd like to work in a vegan cafe
well, our friend who has a 2 year old vegan/veggie cafe in the city centre wants to leave & travel in 9 months time & wants someone to 'take-over' the place
holy karma....as one door shuts another opens
so, seriously looking into taking this on board.
I have worked in the 1 in 12's vegan/veggie cafe as a volunteer during 1990-1991. then i worked as a pizza delivery driver 1992-1994, also worked as a catering assistant in an elderly care-home through 1994. so i know a bit about kitchens.
and i've been vegan since - jeez 1986, probably....
but being my own boss, working to feed passers by & having to try & make a profit...for the sole reason to keep this place running, hmmmmmmm thats a new one!
Brench, my old mate, used to have 2 shops 'Vegonia' selling only vegan stuff. his last one (in Nantwich) closed about 2 years ago...last I'd heard was that he'd got a 2 year lease (he closed the shop after 6 months) and that he'd loaned 10,000 £ from banks....basically which he'll still owe. (i do believe his 1st shop in Portmadocc in North Wales is still alive [fingers crossed])
yeah basically i have no business sense, no capitalistic bone in my body, yet i wanna keep alive & productive & i love food, love cooking, love veganism too.
lotsa people 'say' they will help but talk is cheap isn't it
any body got any business sense or don e anything similar or heard of anyone who has got experience in all this? any help, advice, is positively craved.
also, anyone with an organize and arise username will get a free kismet hc cd when you order a plate of beans on toast!
oh yeah thats the 2nd question - after the business sense thing
what the fuck should i make ?!
it needs to be quick, healthy, ethical, nutritious, filling, and cheap....and vegan
any ideas for a cool menu??????
